We're seeking two new Trustees

undefined

A fantastic opportunity has opened for two inspirational people to join our Board of Trustees.

We’re thrilled to announce that two vacancies have opened up on our Board of Trustees. As an independent educational charity, our objective is to advance the education, knowledge and understanding of STEM in young people and we’re looking for like-minded people to join us. Our Board of 12 Trustees, a diverse mix of experts in a variety of fields, hold a collective responsibility for our strategic direction and governance and we’re looking for enthusiastic and committed people who can join us on our mission to spark curiosity in STEM.

It’s an exciting time to join the team. Winchester Science Centre is already home to two floors of immersive exhibits, the UK’s largest stand-alone Planetarium, a wide-ranging programme of events and a fun and innovative school trips and outreach programme. We have just completed a £1.1m transformation of the visitor experience to create a more inclusive and accessible experience for our visitors. This included a brand new sound and hearing exhibition, new venue acoustics, digital and accessibility upgrade to the Planetarium and the installation of a Changing Places facility. And we’re not done yet! We are now looking to expand from a purely indoor attraction to one offering an extensive outdoor experience, showcasing our fantastic location in the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and ecological importance.

Sustainability Trustee Vacancy

Do you have knowledge and experience in ecology, biodiversity, sustainability and climate change? Can you help our charity achieve its goals in these ever-increasingly important areas?

We’re looking for someone with a passion for STEM and the natural world and a desire to inspire others with that passion. The ideal person will have a scientific or engineering background with business or commercial experience. A broad knowledge and experience in biodiversity, sustainability and climate change is a pre-requisite and an understanding of the strategic importance of these subjects and practical knowledge of policy is essential.

If you would like to be involved in a dynamic, innovative charity and want to challenge and support our team to achieve our future goals, we would love to hear from you. To find out more about the vacancy and what it’s like to be a Trustee click here.

Finance Trustee Vacancy

Thanks to early and insightful financial planning, we are well placed to bounce back from the difficulties of 2020 as soon as circumstances allow. In recognition of this we have been awarded a grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation to help us recover from the effects of the pandemic and develop our strategic priorities.

We are therefore looking for someone with a recognised accountancy qualification who can demonstrate experience in challenging, and contributing to, overall business and financial strategy. The ideal candidate will be a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and have experience advising on sound financial controls.
