Spring Cleaning Taken to New Heights

Daredevil abseiliers have taken on the unusual task of cleaning the iconic pyramid and dome building that is home to Winchester Science Centre ahead of reopening on Saturday 22 May. After having been closed for close to five months due to restrictions as a result of the pandemic, the exterior of the building was in need of a bit of a spring clean.

While the Science Centre’s team weren busy inside preparing the interactive exhibits and explosive science demos, a highly skilled team from Portsmouth based SSH Cleaning, were called in to help with the outside. Attached to a harness SSH Cleaning’s team leader was tasked with the epic job of scaling the 64ft tall pyramid structure with a pressure washer to ensure it’s not just the science demos that are wowing the crowds.

Ben Ward, Chief Executive of Winchester Science Centre, said: “We’re doing a huge spring clean to get ready to reopen. Our Inspirers have prepared some amazing new live science, our maintenance team have powered up the interactive exhibits and we’ve given everything inside a good old spring clean, so we couldn’t forget the outside.”
