Popcorn in the Planetarium – big blockbuster movie screenings for little ones, teens and grown-ups

Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium is bringing you closer to the action this summer as it launches a series of film screenings aimed at young children, teenagers and adults with screenings planned until mid-August. The films are shown from inside its state-of-the-art Planetarium, where movie-goers will be able to enjoy popcorn, snacks and refreshments while lying back and enjoying high-quality 2D projection amidst cinema-grade sound.

Teen Screen! and Twilight Movies are shown every two weeks. The teens are set to enjoy blockbuster movies such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Guardians of the Galaxy; while after the Centre closes the Planetarium remains opens for adults with licensed bar to show films including, The Theory of Everything and Deadpool.

From 18 June, the Planetarium will open early with Movies for Little Ones designed for mini- movie-goers to enjoy the big screen, perhaps for the first time, to experience kids’ films like The Lego Batman Movie and Disney’s Moana.

"Our state-of-the-art planetarium is a unique setting to experience all the joys of the cinema," said Ben Ward, CEO of Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. "We hope our screenings will be a popular among families. Movies for Little Ones offers the perfect early morning distraction, while teenagers over the age of 12 can be dropped off in our safe and secure environment for Teen Screen. If the parents can escape, well they can come along and enjoy a Twilight Movie and a glass of wine in our intimate and relaxed Planetarium."

Tickets cost £5 per person per screening and can be booked in advance online. Movies for Little Ones cost £2 if bought with a ticket to visit Winchester Science Centre after the film.
