Wednesday afternoons are wonder-full of fun during term time. Ignite your imagination with new science workshop themes every week, live science shows and demos, interactive exhibits and a brand new planetarium show everytime you visit. Join in each week for the chance to build your science knowledge, fill up your activity passport with stamps and at the end of every term, you could earn yourself a certificate.

Curious minds will love getting hands-on in fourteen brand new presenter-led family workshops in Bio:Space. Each week a new workshop will bring to life one of four themes, nature's chemistry, nature's history, nature's tech and nature's lungs.
6 October Nature’s Chemistry: Ocean Acidification – make your own pH indicators and measure the pH of different water samples to see if they are acids or alkalis
13 October Nature’s Chemistry: Plant Scents – use the natural scents of plants and flowers to make your own skin balm
20 October Nature’s Chemistry: Natures Forensics – use your chemistry and biology skills to identify what animals are found in the South Downs National Park
3 November Nature’s History: Volcanoes – build your own volcano and predict how the lava moves when the volcano erupts
10 November Nature’s History: Stargazing – head outside, learn the history of the stars and how to view the night sky like an astronomer
17 November Nature’s History: Dinosaur DNA – learn how paleontologists date fossils and how carbon dating is used
Workshop times: 3pm, 4:30pm and 6pm, workshops last 30 minutes
Out-of-this-world Planetarium Shows
Blast off on an afternoon journey through the stars in the Planetarium. Every week will be a new adventure into a different part of the Solar System, from The Sun, The Moon and Earth’s satellites to further into the universe with comets, constellations and some extra-galactic travel.
Show times: 3:45pm, 4:30pm and 5:15pm, shows last 20 minutes
Explosive live science and demos
Live science will be taking place during the week for the first time. Be wowed by the huge Science Live demos right on the exhibition floor and experience the awesome experiments and fun audience participation of the Science Theatre show (visit the what’s on section to find out what show is playing on the date of your visit).

Inspiring and educational immersive exhibits
And last, but by no means least, a trip to the science centre wouldn’t be complete without exploring the immersive exhibits. Play the huge 10m long guitar, learn some British Sign Language, find out more about space flight and have fun with gravity.
