Wow Workshops

Curious minds will love getting hands-on in fourteen brand new presenter-led family workshops in Bio:Space. Each week a new workshop will bring to life one of four themes, nature's chemistry, nature's history, nature's tech and nature's lungs.

Upcoming workshops:

6 October Nature’s Chemistry: Ocean Acidification – make your own pH indicators and measure the pH of different water samples to see if they are acids or alkalis

13 October Nature’s Chemistry: Plant Scents – use the natural scents of plants and flowers to make your own skin balm

20 October Nature’s Chemistry: Natures Forensics – use your chemistry and biology skills to identify what animals are found in the South Downs National Park

3 November Nature’s History: Volcanoes – build your own volcano and predict how the lava moves when the volcano erupts

10 November Nature’s History: Stargazing – head outside, learn the history of the stars and how to view the night sky like an astronomer

17 November Nature’s History: Dinosaur DNA – learn how paleontologists date fossils and how carbon dating is used

Workshop times: 3pm, 4:30pm and 6pm, workshops last 30 minutes

Out-of-this-world Planetarium Shows

Blast off on an afternoon journey through the stars in the Planetarium. Every week will be a new adventure into a different part of the Solar System, from The Sun, The Moon and Earth’s satellites to further into the universe with comets, constellations and some extra-galactic travel.

Show times: 3:45pm, 4:30pm and 5:15pm, shows last 20 minutes

Explosive live science and demos

Live science will be taking place during the week for the first time. Be wowed by the huge Science Live demos right on the exhibition floor and experience the awesome experiments and fun audience participation of the Science Theatre show (visit the what’s on section to find out what show is playing on the date of your visit).

Science Theatre show times: 4pm and 5:30pm, shows last 20 minutes

Inspiring and educational immersive exhibits

And last, but by no means least, a trip to the science centre wouldn’t be complete without exploring the immersive exhibits. Play the huge 10m long guitar, learn some British Sign Language, find out more about space flight and have fun with gravity.
