Parking Information

Parking at the Centre

Disabled bays are available at the top of the main car park (level access to main entrance) and also closer to the Centre if you follow the road around to the left (access via a short flight of steps or sloping path).

Parking Charges:

A parking charge of £2 applies 7 days a week from 8am - 5pm and our parking meters accept both cash and card payments. Please note parking charges do not apply for evening events taking place after 5pm. We have introduced a parking fee to help the charity offset the cost of caring for and protecting its natural landscape within the South Downs National Park.

Motorcycles can park free of charge.

Free parking for Annual Pass holders - please clearly display your permit on your dashboard. If you have forgotten your permit, you will be issued with a dated paper ticket for that day only.

Please do not park in the Holiday Inn car park - this parking is reserved for Holiday Inn customers only. Thank you.

Park and Ride

On days when we expect to be particularly busy (generally wet weather days during the schools holidays), we often run a Park & Ride Service from St Catherine’s Park & Ride (SO23 9NP, Area 7).

If you plan to visit the Science Centre before 2pm on selected Park and Ride days, we recommend proceeding directly to Area 7 at St Catherine's Park and Ride. If the service is running, this will be announced on our website and social media channels by 5pm the day before.

Please see FAQs below for further information on how to use the service.

Park and Ride Service

On selected days (often wet weather days), Winchester Science Centre will run a park and ride service from St Catherine’s Park & Ride (SO23 9NP, Area 7).

How will I know the service is running?

Please check the website prior to your visit. This service will be advertised on our website and social media channels by 5pm the day before if it is due to run. If there is nothing about the park and ride on our website homepage, please assume it is not running on that day.

How should I use the service?

We recommend adding an extra 20 minutes or so to your journey time. Proceed directly to St Catherine’s Park & Ride (SO23 9NP, Area 7) and look out for the dedicated Winchester Science Centre buses. Do not board the green single-deckers which will take you into Winchester.

The first bus will leave at 10am (unless otherwise indicated) with the last bus leaving the Science Centre at 5:15pm. If you are a blue badge holder or planning to arrive after 2pm please head directly to the Science Centre.

Is it free?

Parking charges at the park and ride are between £1.50 and £3.00 depending on the day (it's free on Sundays) and your time of arrival. Please purchase a ticket in the usual way. You will be issued with a two part ticket - put one part in the window of your car and retain the other portion. When you reach Winchester Science Centre, present your ticket and we will refund the cost of parking. If you pay using your phone please show this to us.
