Know Before You Go
The impact of the global pandemic allowed us to make a number of positive changes to the way we operate the Science Centre. While it is encouraging that many official restrictions are easing, it is clear that the pandemic will affect us for some time to come.
Science is playing a big role in shaping the way we all deal with the effects of the pandemic. We are closely following the scientific reports to inform and educate us in the best approach to operating the Science Centre.
The following information will explain what we are still doing to ensure you continue to experience an inspirational, educational and safe day out.
Masks, Social Distancing and Cleaning
It is important that we all take responsibility to do our best to keep everyone safe. Our staff will continue to wear masks where possible and we will be encouraging visitors to do the same in our indoor areas (with the exception of children under 11 years old and anyone with a disability or medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask).
We will ask all visitors to continue to be mindful of social distancing. We will be continuing to limit the number of people entering the venue and keeping a reduced capacity in our shows to help with this. The additional hand sanitising stations that we installed will remain in place and we will continue with our increased and frequent cleaning practices.
Book in Advance
To help with social distancing, all visitors, including Annual Pass holders, must continue to pre-book their entry time-slot tickets in advance online. Check out our handy booking guide for more information on how to do this.
We've pulled together a few of the most frequently asked questions such as how long to leave for your visit, what food is available and how adding Gift Aid to your ticket can help our charity.
Book with Confidence
We know that plans can change at the last minute as a result of the pandemic. If you feel unwell or have to self-isolate, we will be happy to move your booking with our Book with Confidence promise. There’s no need to call us, just email email@example.com with your booking reference and we will convert your booking to a credit note. As soon as you’re ready to rebook, simply email us again with your booking reference, preferred date and time of arrival and any shows that you would like to reserve.
School bookings are also covered by our Book with Confidence promise. All school bookings made for academic year 2021/22 will not require advance payment and you can move or cancel it free of charge if it is impacted by the pandemic. If you need to amend your booking, please email firstname.lastname@example.org at your earliest convenience. If you are amending a booking for the same day, please call us as early as possible.
Good To Go
We closely followed government and industry best practices when we reopened in October 2020 to ensure that we met COVID-Secure certification and were awarded Visit Britain's Good to Go mark. We have maintained this and continue to follow official guidelines, have a risk assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
