Find out more...

It’s hibernation season for our animal friends. Join us in The Hibernation Station in Bio:Space to find out more about what our native species do during winter. Enter your very own hibernation chill out zone. Learn how to slow your breathing and heart rate. And find out more about how the species native to the South Downs National Park are hibernating outside. Then venture outside to build your very own hibernation den. Discover more about the nests that hibernating creatures build to help them survive the harsh weather of the winter. Then, it’s your turn. Work with your friends and family to build your very own hibernation den!*

Back inside, things are heating up – and cooling down – in our brand new action-packed 20-minute free live science show, Test the Water. It’s the clash of the titans! It’s hot versus cold water! Live experiments and fascinating facts will delve into the science of water temperatures. Watch the epic can crusher experiment. Find out how convection plays a role in the movement of liquids. And get ready to cheer as we find out whether hot or cold water will fire the film canister rocket the furthest.

Over in the Planetarium, you can blast off on a space adventure in not one but two shows. Zoom into the stars and discover more about the constellations, planets and moons that we share our solar system with in Beyond the Moon, an exciting presenter-led live show. And in, Astronaut, a subtitled film show, find out what it takes to become a real-life spaceman. Please note that Planetarium shows are an additional £4 per ticket.

And don’t forget all the other hands-on fun on offer! Discover more about sound, hearing and vibration on the upper floor. Climb inside a giant guitar. Explore the acoustic rocket. And even learn some British Sign Language. On the lower floor blast off on a journey through Explorer:Space. Discover more about what it’s like to live and work in space in our interactive space zone.

*Don’t forget your wellies and warm coats, or borrow some from our wet weather station, as den building will be taking place outside.
