Badge Nights: Spooky Scientists (2027)
Come and earn your badge in an unforgettable group adventure!
Badge Nights give Scouts, Guides and uniformed groups exclusive evening access to Winchester Science Centre for a packed programme of hands-on science and themed activities.
Groups can explore two floors of interactive exhibits, take part in interactive workshops, enjoy spectacular science demonstrations and get stuck into a unique experience linked to badge learning.
With a different theme at each event, there’s always something new to discover while earning the Curiosity Badge, and our handy Badge Guides make it easy for Leaders to see which badges young people can work towards at each night.
Please note that a mandatory form must be completed and submitted for each troop before attending the event.
Spooky Scientists
Get ready for a night of spectacular science at our Moonlight Mysteries Badge Night! Young people will dive into the world of chemistry and biology through a series of explosive reactions and unforgettable demonstrations.
Watch clouds of dry ice fog spill across the room, witness the foamy excitement of elephant’s toothpaste and marvel at the power of a hydrogen balloon demonstration. Budding scientists can also get hands-on in our dissection labs, exploring anatomy and discovering how living things are adapted to survive.
Alongside these exciting activities, groups can explore the science centre’s interactive exhibits while working towards their Curiosity Badge.
Your Badge Nights ticket includes:
- Science live demonstrations
- Dissections labs
- A Curiosity Badge for every child to take home
- Hands-on fun across two floors of interactive exhibits that will help your group with their science, engineering and space badges
- A tasty snack and a drink
Our Badge Nights sessions are open to all uniformed groups. Simply select your arrival time and the number of children and leaders coming along. The Science Centre doors open at 5:15pm for the first session and 6:15pm for the second session.*

Accessibility information for Badge Nights
All our exhibits are interactive. That means you can enjoy them using your senses. Touch them, watch them, hear them. The exhibits are low down so everyone can reach them.
Planetarium shows can be unusual and exciting experiences. All our shows are relaxed and fun with calm presentations. If you want to call out, ask questions or swap ideas with your group about what you can see, go right ahead. It's not super dark and you can move around, go out and come back in if you like. If you have a wheelchair, we have spaces for you to sit with seats for your friends. The stairs have lights to make them easy to see.
If your group has SEND needs, we can help you create a really magical experience just for them. Just talk to our accessibility team – we're here to help.
