Space adventurers – we need you!

This Christmas, find out if you’ve got what it takes to live and work in space. Our space commanders are on the lookout for new recruits to join them at the Space Station Science Training Academy. Are you ready to start your mission to space?

Astronauts-in-training will be put through their paces in order to graduate from the Training Academy. Join the space commanders as they delve into the secrets of space travel in Blast Off, a brand-new free science show. Find out what kit astronauts use to survive in space. And get ready for some explosive combustion experiments that explore how shuttles launch into the stars.

Space cadets will also need to stop off in the Earth:Lab to learn how to mine for space rocks to graduate from the Academy. What’s hidden under the space dust – get digging to find out! You’ll also discover how humans can live in space. Find out about hydroponics and how plants can be used to survive on other planets. Wow!

A stop at the Space Garage is a must for every member of space crew. Get your hands on some real moon rock and find out all about the objects that are floating around in space right now! And do you have the skills and determination to work in space? Find out with a fun new Science Live interactive demo.

Will you complete your mission and be certified as space ready? We can’t wait to find out!

Don’t miss out on all the other exciting Science Centre activities taking place as well. Experience an out-of-this-world Planetarium show, huge live demos in Science Live and two floors of exciting and fun hands-on interactive exhibits.

Why not add some Christmas magic and science wow to your festive visit? Join us in Cosmic Christmas, a brand-new immersive family adventure. Hidden in an intergalactic wonderland there’s a Christmas space tale waiting to be told. Join Santa as he recreates the story of his epic first mission to the International Space Station. Get set for a 45-minute live-action performance in the Planetarium auditorium. Join in with Santa and Aster, the intergalactic planetary elf, as the story is brought to life through immersive experiences, live science and an out-of-this-world journey through space.
