Solar Eclipse: Live at the Science Centre
An evening of the sun, science and celebration!
Join us for an evening celebrating the UK’s best Solar Eclipse of the century!
A solar eclipse is a rare astronomical event, when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and casts its shadow across Earth. This August, around 90% of the Sun will be covered—the deepest eclipse visible from the UK since 1999, and one that won’t be matched again until 2090.
Alongside experiencing this incredible moment safely, you’ll be able to dive into the science behind the spectacle. Take part in hands-on activities, explore how eclipses happen, and discover their impact on our skies.
In the case of poor weather, this event will still go ahead with activities and demonstrations moving to the comfort of inside centre.
Experience the Eclipse:
- Eclipse viewing glasses included with every ticket
- Expert inspirers on hand to guide you through the experience
- A shared peak viewing moment
- A planetarium show learning about the eclipse
