Summer Holiday Activities: Destination Space
Join us for a space-filled summer holiday at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, where we will be sparking curiosity and imagination in all the family!
Ready for take-off in time for the summer holidays will be our incredible new immersive zone Explorer:Space, which will take you on an epic journey through the Solar System. The new zone will encompass 20 fantastic modular exhibits, covering everything from space discoveries to atmospheric pressure to the first moon landing mission. We look forward to rocket launching families into space this summer and delivering a truly unforgettable experience.
Every day throughout the holidays, visitors can also drop in to these special activities, delivered in partnership with Destination Space*, at no extra cost:
- Experience a fantastic live science show exploring both the story and science of satellites. These will be running daily at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm.
- Our Curiosity Officers and Inspirers will be delivering space-themed activities in the Invention Studio, including programming Mars rovers and building and launching rockets.
- There will be a range of exciting space-themed activities around the Centre, including space rocks to examine and tours around a model of the surface of Mars.
Winchester Science Centre will be the ultimate day out for budding young astronauts and space engineers this summer!

Outdoor Picnic and Play
The Science Centre is situated in the South Downs National Park and enjoys great views across the rolling countryside. We have a large outdoor picnic and play area, with trim trail and water play, and direct access to the neighbouring Butterfly Conservation reserve, Magdalen Hill Down. We think that visiting on a sunny day is a great way to enjoy the best of indoors and out.
The Hub Café
The onsite café stocks a range of hot and cold lunch and snacks including jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, cakes, fruit and snacks and fresh coffee, speciality teas, cold drinks and ice creams.
Picnic tables are available indoors and in the outside picnic and play area. Seating in the café is reserved for those purchasing food and drink onsite.
