February Half Term: Science of Magic
Spark curiosity in your little ones with a fun-filled family day out at Winchester Science Centre this February half term!
You can enjoy all these exciting extra activities FREE with admission during half term:
- Our Inspirers will cast a spell over visitors with an incredible live science show exploring the science behind the magic. Watch us turn water to wine, discover the secret of the disappearing act and experience some awesome tricks with fire! Shows running at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:30 and 15:30
- Children can get hands-on in the Invention Studio creating their own optical illusions
- Keep your eyes peeled for Inspirers roaming the exhibition floor delivering science busking including myth-busting maths and card tricks
On 16th, 17th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th February, we welcome researchers from the University of Portsmouth Department of Psychology who will be providing interactive demos of developmental psychology research, where visitors can try out some of the games and tasks that we use to measure children's developing abilities to navigate and interact with the world. The team will be running two studies, one focusing on social coordination and another on food exploration.

Returning over half term is You Are Here!, an exciting, brand new type of family planetarium show that perfectly combines live theatre with the immersive 360˚ fulldome visual experience. You Are Here! is a 30-minute show is designed for children and their families. Be inspired to look up at the night sky and it could be the start of a lifelong adventure.
We do have parking available on-site, however we expect our car park to reach capacity on busier days during half term. We will therefore be running a Park and Ride service daily from Monday 18 - Saturday 23 February from St Catherine’s Park & Ride (SO23 9NP, Zone 7). Find out more here.

Book General Admission using the relevant online booking link below. All half term activities are free with admission. Book at least 3 days in advance and save 25% on admission!
You will also have the option to reserve your free live science show, which we recommend doing to guarantee your place.
