Winchester Science Centre Invites Industry Professionals to Support Exciting New Initiatives
Two newly developed schemes will provide businesses with an opportunity to excite children about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
Companies can now join forces with a regional leader in science communication to make a positive difference to the lives of thousands of young people. By joining Winchester Science Centre’s (WSC) Corporate Friends scheme, businesses will support the charity’s work to spark curiosity in STEM. In return, a range of benefits are on offer, from exclusive event tickets to the chance to participate in science busking. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with a well-loved visitor attraction and help to inspire a new generation of confident, passionate STEM professionals.
“The prospect of building strong partnerships with a diverse range of businesses is extremely exciting,“ said Ben Ward, CEO of Winchester Science Centre. “The need to engage young people in STEM is greater than ever. We want to raise aspirations and confidence so that every child can participate and imagine their future in STEM, but we can’t do this alone.”
WSC welcomes over 180,000 visitors per year, providing exciting, interactive science experiences to children and their families. Receiving regular support will significantly increase the breadth and impact of their work, including everything from the development of inspiring activities and experiences at the centre to new hands-on community outreach programmes.
The charity is also soon to launch a series of Business Breakfast mornings. Through these free networking events, WSC aims to promote and support greater diversity in the business community and STEM sector. As they work to create an environment that is accessible and inclusive to all, the Science Centre are keen to share their journey with others.
“Idea sharing is vital if we want to create accessible and diverse workplaces across the region,” added Ben Ward. “This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to come together and discuss their experiences, whilst gaining useful insights on best practice from some incredibly passionate and engaging guest speakers.”
Winchester Science Centre’s Business Breakfasts are aimed at business leaders, managers and HR teams. The WSC team looks forward to welcoming professionals to the centre and facilitating a broadening of knowledge around diversity.
WSC hopes these new initiatives will unite the business community and raise awareness about accessibility, inclusivity and the need to build and maintain a thriving STEM industry.
