Winchester Science Centre is run by an independent educational charity with a strategic vision of sparking curiosity and a mission to build science capital for all. The concept of Science Capital can be imagined like a holdall, containing all the science-related knowledge, attitudes, experiences and resources that you acquire through life. Informal experiences such as those provided by Winchester Science Centre are recognised as important contributing factors to increasing someone’s science capital.

Over the past two years we have been developing our visitor experience, introducing presenter-led planetarium shows and live science shows every weekend and school holiday, opening the Invention Studio, a staff-led activity area where children are encouraged to design, build, test and refine their inventions, and the launch of Explorer:Space, a huge new interactive space zone.

In addition to the improved public offer, we have also transformed our school visit programme, where every child on a school trip will experience the planetarium, a workshop, space challenge and exploration time on the exhibition floor.

Creating accessible and inclusive experiences is one of our charity’s primary aims. To support this, we have introduced a tiered pricing structure for schools, enabling state-funded schools with over 14% free school meals a 60% reduction on admission. For families we have simplified our admission by introducing a single ticket price with up to 25% discount for advance online bookings.

To ensure we can continue to deliver our dynamic public programme, we’ve adjusted our admission prices accordingly. We will be increasing our general admission fee by £2 from Friday 1 February, making a standard admission £12 per person on the door. We’re pleased to confirm that savings of up to 25% will continue to be available for people booking online in advance. People purchasing tickets before 1 February for visits on or after that date will be able to purchase them at our current rate.

In line with our fair pricing structure that includes a single ticket price for General Admission, our Annual Passes will now also have a single price of £40 per person.
