Winchester Science Centre (WSC) needs your help. We are looking to recruit a small team of young people to represent our audiences as we create a new exciting future for our science centre.

WSC is investing heavily in a new exciting and inclusive visitor experience at our site in the outskirts of Winchester. It is essential to the project that young people are involved at every step to ensure we achieve our aims. WSC is creating a young steering group of children aged 8-12 to be represent our communities and help influence the new exhibit design. The new exhibition will look at Sound Vibration and Hearing, how amazing it is and how it affects all our lives.

The young steering group will meet once a month from September to February to review designs, discuss ideas and most importantly make sure what we do is fun. Meetings will be held at Winchester Science Centre on Saturday mornings for two hours. WSC will pay for travel costs for parents/guardians to bring the young people to the centre for meetings and the steering group members will receive a free one year family membership. The steering group will also be invited to the VIP launch of the new exhibition. Steering group members will be required to attend at least 4 out the 5 meetings.

WSC is a disability confident workplace and a focus of this project is to ensure we make the exhibition as accessible as possible. Places on the panel are limited and WSC is keen to receive applications from a wide group of young people.

Workshops will be led by the Chief Executive Ben Ward and experienced science centre designers HKD Design. The new exhibition is launching in April 2020
