Rockets! Easter Holiday Activities
Daily during Hampshire school holidays: 7 - 24 April
Spark your child's imagination at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium this Easter as we explore the explosive theme of rockets and space. On 22 and 23 April we have a Doctor Who themed weekend running alongside Rockets!
Rockets! Live Science Show and Demonstrations
An explosive live show demonstrating the massive power of rockets, how they work and their unique ability to travel into space. Expert presenters will showcase the science behind space travel, with the help of a few willing volunteers from the audience. This show is ideal for the whole family, although watch out for the loud bangs!
Mobile exhibits and space-themed challenges showcasing current and upcoming European Space Agency missions will be available in the main exhibition areas.
Live shows will take place daily at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm. Entry is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Access to the show and mobile exhibits is free of charge to annual pass holders and with General Admission.
Please note: on Sat 22 and Sun 23 April, Dalek Invasion is also taking place, as a result Rockets! live shows will be held at 11.50am, 1.20pm and 3.40pm only.
A special, extended programme of planetarium shows including live, presenter-led shows and 360o fulldome films are offered daily at the following times:
10:40 - Astronaut (a pre-recorded film, suitable for the whole family.
11:20 - Planet Show (a live, presenter-led show, suitable for children age 4yrs +)
12:10 - Cardboard Rocket (a pre-recorded film, perfect for younger children)
13:10 - Simply Stars (a live, presenter-led show, suitable for children age 4yrs +)
14:00 - Astronaut (a pre-recorded film, suitable for the whole family.
14:50 - Planet Show (a live, presenter-led show, suitable for children age 4yrs +)
15:40 - Cardboard Rocket (a pre-recorded film, perfect for younger children)
16:30 - We Are Stars (a pre-recorded film, open to all ages but best for 8yrs +)
Planetarium shows are ticketed and are not included in General Admission. Savings are available for those who book General Admission and Planetarium tickets in the same transaction.
The Hub Café
The Hub relaunched at the end of 2016, the new and improved offer includes a choice of hot and cold drinks, lunch menu and snacks, including sandwiches, toasted paninis, jacket potatoes, cakes, fruit, biscuits and more. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for those purchasing food and drinks from The Hub.
A free Park & Ride service will operate from 8 - 23 April (Easter holiday activities run 7 - 24 April), follow AA signage as you approach the Centre. The on-site car park is also available although we ask that customers who are able to use the Park & Ride service do so in order to allow those unable to use the bus service to park on-site.
Accessibility: Disabled bays are available at the top of the main car park (level access to main entrance) and also closer to the Centre if you follow the road around to the left (access via a short flight of steps or sloping path).
How to book
Entry to Rockets! is free of charge for Annual Pass holders and those purchasing General Admission tickets. Buy tickets online in advance and save 10%. Further savings available when you book three tickets or more. Planetarium shows are not included in General Admission.
