WOW! The Secret World of Gases!
This February Half Term Winchester Science Centre has teamed up with the Royal Society of Chemistry and BOC to deliver the amazing new show ‘The Secret World of Gases’. The show includes awe-inspiring demonstrations using liquid nitrogen, solid carbon dioxide and hydrogen that are guaranteed to inspire and excite! To complement the live show, there’s a host of hands-on activities taking place in the Invention Studio and around the exhibition.
Live science shows and demonstrations are free with general admission.
Enjoy full access to the Science Centre’s exhibition floors and complete your visit with an immersive show in the planetarium
Admission: £12 adult, £8.40 child - save 10% if you book tickets online at least 1 day in advance.
Due to popular demand, pre-booking is recommended for February half term - this will guarantee admission to the Science Centre. Once we reach capacity, we will be unable to admit further visitors into the building. We are running a satellite car park and free shuttle bus service - please find more information below.
The Secret World of Gases Activities
Live shows will take place daily at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 14:00 and 15:00. Each show lasts approximately 30 minutes in length.
Visitors will be required to reserve tickets to the live science show in the Space Marquee. This will offered as a option when booking online in advance/on the day of your visit. Tickets for these shows are free and on a first come, first served basis.
A daily programme of live, presenter-led shows and 360° fulldome films.
Planetarium shows are ticketed and are not included in General Admission. Savings are available for those who book General Admission and Planetarium tickets in the same transaction and for Annual Pass holders.
The Hub Café
The onsite café stocks a range of hot and cold lunch and snacks including jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, cakes, fruit and snacks and fresh coffee, speciality teas, cold drinks and ice creams.
Picnic tables are available indoors and in the outside picnic and play area. Seating in the café is reserved for those purchasing food and drink onsite.
How to book
Half term holiday activities (excluding planetarium shows) are free of charge for Annual Pass holders and included in General Admission tickets. Visitors will be required to reserve tickets to the live science show in the Space Marquee. This will offered as a option when booking online in advance/on the day of your visit. Tickets for these shows are free and on a first come, first served basis.
