Special needs group activities

Winchester Science Centre regularly welcomes groups with special needs and is committed to maximising access to provide a rewarding visit for all. The Science Centre's facilities include:

  • Six well-located spaces for wheelchair users in the planetarium
  • Roll-on roll-off lift between the two floors of the exhibition
  • Accessible lavatories on each floor

Detailed accessibility information can be found here

Planetarium shows

We provide many special needs group activities for children and adults. For visitors who may vocalise or otherwise make noise during the show, regular Chatterbox Showings are available in which visitors may chat, call out or otherwise express their enjoyment freely. Please note that in other showings the audience are asked to listen quietly and anyone making noise, including those with special needs, may be asked to leave.

On school-days, there is the option to request a private show. This can include requests for lighting and/or sound levels appropriate to the audience. Minimum charge applies, please ask for details.
