Adult group visits

Adults love Winchester Science Centre too!

The Science Centre's aim is to bring the worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life through hands-on interaction.

100 hands-on exhibits allow you to explore how to bend light, create your own tornado and vortex, create electronic music, see your body through a heat sensitive camera and many other activities.

Alongside the exhibition, you could also include a visit to the UK's largest capacity digital planetarium for a unique, memorable and out-of-this-world experience. A wide variety of planetarium shows to suit adult audiences are available on demand, from explorations of the Solar System to the opportunity to follow Darwin on his voyages in the Beagle. Modern planetariums have the fantastic ability to visualise anything from the starry night sky to a voracious black hole, with the unique power to create a shared virtual reality experience.

Groups of 15 or more benefit from 20% off general admission. Large groups (35+) visiting on weekdays can request a live, presenter-led planetarium show. There are a number of choices but the top recommendation for adults is the unforgettable Flight Through the Universe.

Adult groups may also be interested in visiting for one of the regular special events including After DarkSaturday Night at the Planetarium and Space Lectures

Local information

With other high-quality attractions in the local area, why not extend your visit to a day trip by including a visit to Winchester Cathedral and the chance to explore the historic city and visit its shops, or perhaps a steam train ride on the Watercress Line.

Winchester Science Centre is set within the South Downs National Park in a rural location, yet is just minutes away from the M3 so road access is easy, avoiding city traffic. This location also allows it to serve as an excellent journey-break for those travelling on to Bournemouth or the Isle of Wight.

For those staying the night, the Winchester Holiday Inn is situated next door to the Science Centre. The Holiday Inn hotel Winchester boasts 141 contemporary bedrooms including a selection of executive suites. All rooms are generously appointed and feature wireless internet access, flat screen televisions, SKY and movie channels, air conditioning, 24 hour room service and many more facilities. This new, contemporary hotel was the first of its kind in the South of England. For bookings enquiries email bookings@hiwinchester.co.uk
