Teacher Industrial Partners' Scheme
The Teacher Industrial Partners’ Scheme is a new joint initiative between industry and education that gives teachers direct experience of what takes place in modern engineering and technology organisations. TIPS aims to help teachers to help their students understand how their subject links to engineering and the diverse range of career opportunities available at all levels.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology, Project ENTHUSE and the National Science Learning Centre have come together to support two week placements for science, mathematics, D&T and computing teachers with local engineering and technology employers.
They currently have placements available for Staffordshire, the Midlands, London, Surrey and Farnborough. However, they are open to teacher interest from all parts of the country.
The fee to participate in the scheme is £360. Teachers from state maintained schools can receive an ENTHUSE Award bursary of £1,400 to help with supply cover and other costs to allow them to participate in the scheme.
