FIRST® LEGO® League
Winchester Science Centre hold a regional tournament for FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) in December each year.
The 2017 event will take place on Thursday 14 December.
What is FLL?
FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a global science and technology competition for teams of students aged 9 - 16 years old. It is designed to encourage an interest in real world issues and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers. The students will work together as a team to explore a given scientific topic and plan, program and test an autonomous robot to solve several missions.
FLL is for young people aged 9 to 16 years, working in teams of up to ten students with a supporting mentor. Each year FLL releases a new challenge for the teams.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) coordinates FLL in the UK and Ireland.
The challenge involves a robot game and a project, and students will need to demonstrate the FLL core values throughout all their work.
Teams have ten to twelve weeks during the autumn term to complete and test their entry before they compete in their chosen Regional Tournament.
The competition is an amazing way for your students and mentees to meet professionals from the programming/robotics world, compete with other teams from across the county and have a shot at the finals!
FLL is CREST Accredited
Students can complete either a Bronze or Silver CREST Award during this project. For further details please visit The British Science Association.
