Latest Ambassador Opportunities
If you are a current STEM Ambassador there are three ways to identify volunteering opportunities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight:
- The very latest opportunities in the region are stored at http://www.stemnet.org.uk/
- The Education Team at Winchester Science Centre regularly deliver practical workshops to visiting schools and welcome STEM Ambassadors to assist with these workshops and enhance them through their own experience. Examples of the most popular workshops include
Rockets and Forces - Explore forces and simple pneumatics by making a self-built pop bottle water rockets.
Kitchen Investigators - Investigate the properties of ‘normal’ kitchen ingredients such as yeast, flour, sugar, salt, citric acid and bicarbonate of soda, and make a bath bomb.
These workshops are held regularly on weekdays during school term times so if you are interested in assisting please email Ambassadors@winchestersciencecentre.org for more information.
- If you would like to discuss any other opportunities that might be suitable for you, contact the STEM Team on 01962 891920 or email Ambassadors@winchestersciencecentre.org.
'STEMNetworking' has been designed specifically to support STEM Ambassadors and provides access to resources, requests for support from local schools and the opportunity to share your ideas through your own profile, or even a blog. As the name suggests, it's also an excellent place to make links with like-minded professionals from a wide range of STEM industries. The STEMClubs website is also a good resource for STEM Ambassadors. They have created a fact sheet on STEM Clubs and how you can get involved with some ideas about activities you might want to do with your local STEM Club.
