    • Building Confidence as a Newly Qualified Mathematics Teacher is a one day programmer that will take place on 22nd April 2016 and again on 1st November 2016. Participants will explore what makes good mathematics teaching, experience teaching methods which will help develop teaching and learning in mathematics and complete a gap task in order to put theory into practice.   • BAE Systems Early Careers Awareness Programme. This is a two-day teacher and technician CPD programme that combines an awe-inspiring hands-on day at a local BAE Systems site, free resources from the Royal Academy of Engineering and a follow-up conference three months later at the National STEM Learning Centre. Day one will take place on 11th March 2016 at BAE Systems Portsmouth, The Airport, Portsmouth PO3 5PQ. It will include a tour of the site, training on how to use the brand new Royal Academy of Engineering resource, 'Drones: friend or foe" and an opportunity find out about further careers and STE support available through BAE Systems and other partner organisations. Day two will take place on 27th June 2016 at the National STEM Learning Centre, York, YO10 5DD and will give participants a hands on experience of the recruitment process used for apprentices and graduates and help develop strategies to help better prepare students for life after the classroom.   • The Barefoot Computing Project has been funded by the DfE and BT to develop cross-curricular teaching resources for Primary teachers to help with the new aspects of the Computing curriculum. Alongside these resources, self-teach materials have been produced, so that teachers can develop their own understanding of the concepts and practices of computing. All teachers can access these resources for free at www.barefootcas.org.uk

  • Polymer Study Tours 2016. Free intensive four day residential CPD courses for practising and trainee secondary school Science and D&T teachers designed to improve knowledge and understanding of polymers. The Polymer Study Tours were initiated by the Worshipful Company of Horners in 1987 and are based at the Universities of Edinburgh Napier, London Metropolitan and Manchester.
