Primary School Support
It is crucial to inspire and excite young people about STEM right from the start of their formal education, so that they can develop a life-long love for the subjects.
Through innovative lesson planning, after school clubs and inter-school competition many teachers are taking the opportunity to increase the understanding of how learning in school links to the real world of the children and young people that they teach. Many students have their work on these exciting projects rewarded through the British Science Association's CREST Award scheme. In Primary Schools this is called The Crest Star Program. Find out more.
A wide range of high quality STEM enrichment activities and schemes is also available to primary schools through the Education Team at the Science Centre. The team can provide information and guidance on any STEM activities that schools wish to undertake.
In addition, the Science Centre is an environment where students can engage with the Planetarium and curriculum linked resources based around the Centre's hands-on science exhibits. Visiting schools can also choose to book from a range of practical workshops and planetarium shows. For more information about the services available please visit the Education section of the website.
All schools engaged with the STEM Ambassador Programme are now eligible to 20% discount in the Winchester Science Centre shop. The shop sells a variety of items perfect for prizes including quality books, interesting experiments to try at home and other unusual and quirky science gadgets.
The shop can be visited without buying a ticket. For further info please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
