Nuffield Research Placements 2015

On behalf of the Nuffield Foundation, we would like to invite your Year 12 students to apply for a Nuffield Research Placement, which will once again offer opportunities to young people in Hampshire.

Nuffield Research Placements enable students to join a research or development project with practising scientists and technologists in an area of science, technology or engineering that interests them during their summer vacation. In order to apply for the scheme, students must be in the first year of a post-16 science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) course.  Projects run for four weeks in the summer vacation.

Places are limited and placements will be allocated to schools after the application deadline of 31 March 2015. Approximately 20 placements will be available for Year 12 students in Hampshire.

Last year Thermo Fisher Scientific provided two very successful placements at their site in Basingstoke. You can read more about it here http://www.stemsussex.co.uk/secondary/nuffield-research-placements/providers/thermo-fisher-scientific/ . Further case studies of student research placements can be found at http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/student-case-studies.

If you are a STEM employer you could help change someone's life this summer by providing a placement to a local student. For more information go to http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/project-providers

Interested students should complete an application at  www.nuffieldresearchplacements.org/
