Computer Science Conference

On 14th July Winchester Science Centre hosted a computer science conference which was organised jointly with Computing at Schools (CAS).

Attendance at the event was excellent and attracted around 60 teachers from 45 local schools. The sessions were opened with a keynote speech from Dr John Woollard of Southampton University about Computational Thinking – What, How and Why.

During the day teachers attended workshops on different aspects of computer science with the intention of providing support on delivery of the new computing curriculum. Workshop topics varied from programming to computational thinking. Fantastic support was received from local STEM Ambassadors who ran and supported several of the workshops.

Further joint CAS events are planned in the coming academic year.
