Animal project may lead to national award

Two students from a Hampshire school will be bidding to win the prestigious title of UK Young Scientists of the Year at a national science and engineering fair in Birmingham next week.

The girls qualified for the finals after winning the Intermediate Science/Maths category in the regional heats of the NSEC at the 2014 Big Bang Fair South East last July with their project “Animal Enrichment.”

 The project aimed to design a toy that will enrich the environment and lives of captive animals, a useful tool since many animals in captivity suffer from stress-related disorders and suffer depression.  Read more
